Your Google profile, job pages and reviews, run as one plan.

Most electrical contractors have heard the pitch: "We will get you to the top of Google Maps." A few months later there is a report full of rankings, and still no clear answer to the one question that matters. How many calls and quotes came from search?
The work that wins local searches is often the part nobody did:
Good electrician SEO is steady work on your profile, your job pages and your reviews. We do it every month, then report what came of it in calls, quotes and booked jobs, not just rankings.
Electrician as the main category, every service you offer listed, your real service area and hours, and new job photos each month. Many customers call straight from the profile without opening your site.
Panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, lighting, rewiring and commercial work, each with its own page, and only for work you do. Every page answers the customer's first questions in its opening lines.
A page for each town where you want more work, with jobs you have done there and photos from them. No copies with the town name swapped.
Every finished job gets a review request by text and email, with one reminder, sent to every customer. We draft a reply to each review, so none sit unanswered.
We connect Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, submit your sitemap and keep pages quick on a phone. Schema marks the business as an electrician, and we make sure AI search crawlers are not blocked.
Calls and forms from the site land in the CRM, which comes with the plan, along with the page that sent them. Your monthly report shows leads, bookings and cost per lead.
We work through requests one at a time, about 48 hours each. A set of town pages comes in a page or two at a time until it is finished.
Electrician SEO is the work that gets an electrical contractor found when someone searches for an electrician on Google, Google Maps or an AI tool. It covers your Google Business Profile, the pages on your site, your reviews and what other sites say about you.
Local searches have two parts. Search "electrician near me" or "electrician" plus a town, and Google often shows a map with three businesses first and the websites underneath. Your profile is what competes in the map. Your website is what competes in the list below it.
AI tools are now a third place. Google's AI Overviews and ChatGPT will suggest a few electricians when asked, based on what they find in search and on other sites. Good SEO helps there too. We wrote a guide on how to get recommended by ChatGPT and Google's AI.
The best electrician SEO keywords are the jobs you want, in the towns you want them in, in the words customers really use. Google's own suggestions show those words when you start typing "electrician".
Searches fall into four groups, and each one needs a different page:
"Electrician near me open now." "Electrician 24 hours near me." These people want someone today. Your map listing, your hours and how fast you reply decide who they call. If you don't take night calls, say so on the page.
"Can an electrician install an EV charger?" Questions like this come before a planned job. A page for that job, with what it involves, answers them and gets you the quote request.
"Electrician cost per hour." "Electrician inspection cost." These people are comparing. A page that explains what changes the price, in plain words, earns trust. If you share price ranges, they belong there.
"Electrician near me free estimate." If you offer estimates, make it the first thing on the page, with a form that books one.
We pull your phrases from three places: Google's suggestions, the searches Search Console shows you already appear for, and the words your customers use when they call. That last source is the one no tool has.
For a local electrician, the Google Business Profile is usually what a customer sees first, and they can call you from it in one tap. So electrician local SEO starts with the profile, before the website.
Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity, and that you cannot pay for a better local ranking (Google's tips to improve your local ranking). Distance is fixed. Relevance comes from how well your profile matches the search. Popularity comes from how well known you are, and reviews are part of it.
What we set up on your profile, and why:
Electrician, with extra categories only for work you really do.
Panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, lighting and the rest, each with a plain line.
The towns you drive to. If you run the business from home, Google's guidelines say a service-area business should hide its address (Google's guidelines for your profile).
No town names or keywords added. The same guidelines say extra words in the name can get a profile suspended.
Your vans, your team and finished work, with new ones every month.
Steady new reviews, each with a reply.
On reviews, Google's policy says a business must not selectively ask happy customers for reviews, or offer discounts or freebies for them (Google's rules on reviews). So we send a request to every customer after every job. Here is how a review and reputation system works, start to finish.
Your website wins searches with two kinds of pages. Service pages, one per job, match searches like "panel upgrade" or "generator installation". Town pages tell Google and the customer that you really work in that town.
A good service page says what the job involves, when someone needs it, whether a permit and inspection are usually part of it, how long it takes and how to get a quote. A good town page shows jobs you have done there, with photos, and how soon you can usually get out.
Keep both honest. Only build service pages for work you are licensed for and want, and only town pages for towns you drive to. Never copy one town page and swap the name. Google's spam policies call "pages targeted at specific regions or cities that funnel users to one page" doorway abuse (Google's spam policies). A page written for each town avoids that, and it reads better to the customer.
Work through electrician SEO in this order. Each step makes the next one count for more. It is also how we start with a new client.
Steps 1 to 4 and step 7 are yours to do with a little time each week. Steps 5, 6, 9 and 10 are where most electricians run out of time, because they need writing and setup.
Do the basics yourself if you work in a small area and already have more jobs than time. Hire an electrician SEO company when you need pages written, tracking set up and the work done every month without you.
| Do it yourself | SEO-only company | Havstock | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you pay | Your time | A monthly fee that varies a lot by company | $4,995 USD a month, flat |
| Google Business Profile | You | Usually included | Included |
| Service and town pages | You write and build them | Usually included | Included |
| Review requests | You send them by hand | Sometimes, often as an extra tool | Sent on their own from the CRM |
| Ads, quote follow-up, AI chat | No | Often a separate company | Included |
| Contract | None | Varies by company | None, month to month |
An SEO-only company fits when your ads, website and quote follow-up already work, and search is the one thing missing. We fit when search is one of several gaps. One team can put up a panel upgrade page, run ads for it and follow up every quote it brings. For the full picture of what we run for electricians, see electrician marketing. For how we do SEO in any trade, see SEO and AEO.
Hire someone who says exactly what they will do each month, reports calls and quotes, and lets you keep everything if you leave. Ask these before you sign.
Google's page on hiring an SEO puts it plainly: "No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google." Ask anyone you talk to, us included:
Walk away from anyone who guarantees a top spot, wants to own your profile or your domain, or locks you in for a year.
Our answers: we start with your profile, your main job pages and tracking, then add town pages month by month. You own everything. The report shows leads, bookings and cost per lead. There is no contract. And to be straight with you, we have no electrician clients to show yet. The reviews on this page come from businesses in other fields.
Electrician SEO takes months, and nobody can promise a date. Profile fixes can help sooner. New pages take longer, because Google has to find them and decide where they fit.
So measure it by what reaches your phone, not rankings alone:
Your Google Business Profile shows both.
Search Console shows the searches you appear for and the clicks.
Logged in the CRM, with the page each one came from.
The step between a lead and a job.
The number that pays for the work.
Ignore reports built on "domain authority" or rankings for phrases you never picked. We wrote about which marketing numbers actually matter. If you want to talk it through, tell us what you need.
