GoHighLevel Website Builder: Good Enough for Your Site?

The GoHighLevel website builder is good enough for a small service business site of a few pages that needs to catch leads and book calls, because the forms, calendar and CRM are already joined up. It is a weaker fit if your site is mostly a blog, needs split tests on its main pages, or runs on a lot of custom code. That last one is why we moved our own website off it in September 2026, while keeping GoHighLevel for everything behind the site.

The short answer

Yes, for most small service businesses. The builder comes with every GoHighLevel plan from $97 a month. It builds multi-page sites on your own domain with automatic SSL, and every form and booking lands in the CRM. Pick something else if your site is mainly a blog, needs split tests, or needs heavy custom code.

What can the GoHighLevel website builder do?

It builds multi-page websites inside a GoHighLevel sub-account, using the same drag-and-drop page builder as GoHighLevel's funnels. This is what GoHighLevel's Websites Overview (modified 8 October 2026) lists, checked 12 October 2026:

FeatureWhat you get
Starting pointA blank site or a ready-made template
Page buildingSections, rows, columns and elements you drag into place
PhonesDesktop and mobile views, with some settings and visibility set per device
SEO settingsA page title and meta description on each page
Custom codeTracking code and custom CSS
Drafts and historySave without changing the live site, then publish. Restore an earlier version
DomainYour own domain or subdomain, with SSL set up automatically once it connects
SellingAttach products to a page for orders and checkout
StatsPage views, opt-ins and sales
AIFunnel & Website AI builds and edits pages from prompts. Free, up to 1,000 prompts a day per location

The AI figure is from GoHighLevel's AI Product Pricing help article (modified 28 September 2026). GoHighLevel also has blogs and online stores, which connect to a domain the same way.

The part that matters most is not on that list. A form on a GoHighLevel website creates a contact in the same account that sends your follow-up texts, holds your calendar and runs your pipeline. Website settings also let you add GoHighLevel's chat widget. On a builder without a CRM, the same setup means joining the site to one, often with a plugin or a tool like Zapier. That join is one more thing to break.

A website is only as good as what happens to the lead after the form. That is the part GoHighLevel already has.

Which GoHighLevel plans include the website builder?

All of them. GoHighLevel's pricing page lists "Website & Funnel Builder" as a core feature on every plan, with no usage charge marked next to it (GoHighLevel's pricing page, checked 12 October 2026):

PlanMonthlyYearlySub-accounts
Starter$97$9703
Unlimited$297$2,970Unlimited
Agency Pro$497$4,970Unlimited, plus SaaS mode

For one business, Starter is enough. You build the website inside a sub-account, and Starter includes 3.

A few paid add-ons on the same page touch your website:

Add-onPrice (checked 12 October 2026)
Domain purchasingNo price shown ("Market leading prices")
SEO, powered by Search Atlas$79 a month per sub-account
WordPress hostingStarts at $10 a month per site

The plan price is flat, but texts, calls, emails and AI are charged by use on top. A website on its own does not run those up much. The follow-up behind it does. We list every fee in our GoHighLevel pricing guide.

If you want to try the builder before you decide, our special link gets you a 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel (we may earn a commission from this link) plus a free live bootcamp. Sign up on GoHighLevel's own site and you get the standard 14 days, with no bootcamp.

What is the difference between a GoHighLevel website and a funnel?

A website is a set of pages people move around freely. A funnel is a set of steps in a fixed order. They use the same builder, but GoHighLevel's Websites Overview sets them apart like this:

WebsiteFunnel
StructureMany pages, visitors browse freelyOrdered steps for one journey
Common useHomepage, service pages, about and contactLead capture, booking, sales and campaigns
Split testingNot availableAvailable

That last row is the one to plan around. If you run ads, send them to a funnel page, not to your website. You can test two headlines against each other on a funnel. You cannot on a website page.

Most small businesses end up with both: a website so people can check you out, and a funnel for each offer you advertise. Our guide to building a landing page in GoHighLevel covers the funnel side.

Put your homepage on the website and your ad pages in a funnel. Only one of them can be split tested.

How do you build a website in GoHighLevel?

Create the site, build the pages, connect your domain, assign it, then publish. These five steps follow GoHighLevel's guide to launching a website (modified 18 August 2026):

  1. Create the website. In the sub-account, go to Sites, then Websites, then + New Website. Pick From Blank or From Templates, name it and click Create.
  2. Build each page. Change the text, images, buttons, forms and navigation. Check the desktop and mobile views. Add a page title and meta description in each page's SEO settings. Click Save.
  3. Connect your domain. In the website's Settings tab, click Connect Domain. Either sign in to your domain company and let GoHighLevel add the records, or copy the DNS records across by hand. DNS changes can take up to 24 hours.
  4. Assign the domain. Pick the connected domain in the website's settings and set which page opens as the home page.
  5. Publish. Save does not change the live site. Publish does. Publish every page that should be live.

Then open the site in a private browser window. Check that it loads over https, that the home page shows instead of a 404, and that a test form creates a contact.

One tip if your domain runs through Cloudflare, like ours does. GoHighLevel's guide says to set the website's record to "DNS only", not "Proxied". Leave it proxied and you can get an SSL warning on the site.

New to GoHighLevel? Set up your CRM and calendar before the website, so the forms have somewhere to send people. Our GoHighLevel tutorial gives the setup steps in order.

Is the GoHighLevel website builder good enough?

For a service business with a handful of pages, yes. Here is what it does well:

  • It is joined up. Forms, calendars, chat and follow-up all live in one account. No plugins, no connectors.
  • You already pay for it. If you run GoHighLevel for your CRM, the website costs nothing extra.
  • It starts fast. Templates and the free page AI get you a first draft quickly.
  • Edits are safe. Save and Publish are separate, and you can roll back to an earlier version.

And here is where it falls short:

  • No split tests on website pages. Only funnel pages can be tested.
  • Phone layouts can take fiddling. GoHighLevel's own guide to building a site from blank suggests that if you cannot get an element to look right on both, you duplicate it and show one copy on desktop and the other on mobile. That works, but it means two copies to keep in step.
  • Custom code and site-wide sections are slow to edit. This is our own experience, and it is why we moved.

Why we moved our own site off it

In September 2026 we moved havstock.com and its blog off GoHighLevel's builder to a separate host. Editing code blocks and the site-wide templates in the builder had become slow work for us. Our site is now plain files we change with an AI coding tool, so a page can be rebuilt in one pass. GoHighLevel still runs our CRM, contacts, calendars and email, and the chat bot on our site.

That move made sense for us because we publish a lot and edit pages every week. It is not a reason for a plumber with a five-page site to leave.

A word on speed and SEO. We have not tested GoHighLevel page speed in a way we can publish, so we will not tell you it is fast or slow. Test your own pages with Google's free PageSpeed Insights. For search, the builder gives you page titles and meta descriptions. Rankings depend mostly on the words on the page and the links to it, whatever the builder.

Most websites do not lose leads because of the builder. They lose them because the words are vague and nobody follows up.

When should you use something else for your website?

Use something else when your site's main job is not catching leads for a service business. Four cases:

  • Your site is mostly a blog. If you plan to publish hundreds of posts, WordPress was built for that. GoHighLevel even sells WordPress hosting, from $10 a month per site.
  • You never use the CRM. If all you want is a brochure site, a simple builder like Squarespace or Wix is enough. Paying $97 a month for GoHighLevel just for a website makes no sense.
  • You edit a lot of custom code. A code-based site, built by a developer or with AI tools, is quicker to change. That was our case.
  • You want to test your main pages. Websites cannot be split tested in GoHighLevel. Funnels can, so many people move their key pages into a funnel.

We compare six other all-in-one tools in our GoHighLevel alternatives guide. Whatever you pick, plan your exit before you build. Moving is real work. When we moved our 135 blog posts off GoHighLevel, we copied each one from the live pages. Keep your words and images in a folder outside any builder, so a move later is a copy job, not a rescue.

What should you check before you launch a GoHighLevel website?

Check who owns what, and test every path a lead can take. Our list, from building sites for clients:

  1. The domain is in your name. Not your web designer's, not your agency's.
  2. You have admin access to the sub-account. If someone else builds it, you should still be able to log in.
  3. Every form makes a contact. Submit each one with a test email and find the contact in the CRM.
  4. Every booking button books. Book a test slot and check the confirmation arrives.
  5. Every page looks right on a phone. Check on a real phone, not just the mobile preview.
  6. Every page has a title and description. Set them in the page's SEO settings.
  7. Nothing from the template is left. GoHighLevel's own launch checklist says to look for placeholder text, template images and test prices.

Own your domain and your login. Pages can always be rebuilt. Access you never had is the hard part to fix.

Do you need to build the website yourself?

No, but someone has to. GoHighLevel is the tool. Someone still has to do the work: write the words, build the pages, connect the forms and keep improving them after launch. The builder does not write a headline for you, and most pages fail on the words, not the layout.

If you have the time and like this kind of work, the templates and the guide above will get you a decent site. Our post on turning your website into a lead generation machine covers what to put on the pages.

If you would rather hand it over, that is what our websites and funnels service does: we write the pages, build them, connect the forms and follow-up, and test them after launch. It is part of one plan with your ads and CRM. See how Havstock Unlimited works.

This will not suit you if you want a one-off website and nothing after it. A freelance designer is likely to be cheaper for that.

FAQ

Can you build a full website on GoHighLevel?

Yes. GoHighLevel's Websites feature builds multi-page sites with a homepage, service pages, about and contact pages, on your own domain with automatic SSL. You start from a blank site or a template and build with drag-and-drop sections. It also has blogs and online stores, which connect to a domain the same way.

Is the GoHighLevel website builder free?

It is not sold on its own, but it costs nothing extra. The Website and Funnel Builder is a core feature on every GoHighLevel plan, from Starter at $97 a month, with no usage charge marked on the pricing page. Texts, calls, emails and AI used by the rest of the account are charged by use.

Can I use my own domain with a GoHighLevel website?

Yes. In the website's settings, click Connect Domain and either let GoHighLevel add the records at your domain company or add them by hand. It can take up to 24 hours. GoHighLevel sets up SSL once the domain is verified. If you use Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only.

Can you A/B test a GoHighLevel website?

No. GoHighLevel's Websites Overview says split testing is not available in Websites. It is available on funnel pages. If you want to test headlines or offers, build those pages as a funnel and send your ads there. Your main website stays as it is, and the funnel carries the tests.

Is the Go High Level website builder good for SEO?

It gives you what search needs at the page level: a page title and meta description on every page, your own domain, and SSL. We have not seen proof that it ranks better or worse than other builders. Rankings depend on your words and the links to your site, so focus there.

Can AI build my GoHighLevel website?

It can make a first draft. Funnel and Website AI builds and edits pages from prompts, and GoHighLevel lists it as free on every plan, up to 1,000 prompts a day per location. Treat the draft as a start. Rewrite the words in your own voice and check every page on a phone.

Can I move my website off GoHighLevel later?

Yes, but plan for it. When we moved our own site and 135 blog posts off GoHighLevel in September 2026, we copied each post from the live pages. Keep your words and images outside the builder from day one, and own your domain, so moving later is a copy job.

The GoHighLevel website builder is a sound choice for a service business that already runs on GoHighLevel and needs a few clear pages that turn visitors into contacts and bookings. It is the wrong one for a big blog or a code-heavy site. If you want to see how it feels, start a 30-day free trial with our special link and build one page from a template first.
