Hire a GoHighLevel Expert: Cost, Where to Look, Red Flags

A GoHighLevel expert is someone you pay to set up, fix or run your GoHighLevel account, and the price runs from a few dollars an hour to thousands a month. What you pay depends on the job: a one-off build, ongoing help, or someone who runs the marketing around the software too. This guide covers what each option costs, where to look, and the red flags that cost owners the most. Every price below was checked on 12 October 2026.

The short answer

For a one-off setup, look in GoHighLevel's Certified Admin directory or on a freelance site like Upwork, where each job shows its own budget. GoHighLevel's own done-with-you setup costs $1,000. For ongoing help, you hire a person or an agency every month. Whoever you hire, keep the account in your name.

What does a GoHighLevel expert actually do?

A GoHighLevel expert builds and looks after the parts of GoHighLevel you do not want to touch. That means text registration, pipelines, calendars, forms, workflows, funnels, and the fixes when something breaks.

The titles do not mean much. "Expert", "specialist", "consultant", "admin" and "developer" all show up for the same kind of work. What matters is the job you need done. Most fall into one of these:

Type of jobWhat it usually coversOne-off or ongoing
New setupBusiness profile, phone number, text registration, email domain, one pipeline, one calendar, forms, first workflowsOne-off
Audit and fixReview an account someone else built, find broken workflows, clean up pipelines and triggersOne-off
Funnel or course buildLanding pages, checkout, order forms, a member area, the emails and texts around themOne-off
MigrationMoving contacts, forms and automations from another tool or another accountOne-off
Admin and supportDay-to-day changes, new automations, helping your team use itOngoing

If you are not sure what GoHighLevel covers yet, start with what GoHighLevel is and who it suits. It is easier to hire well when you know which parts you will use.

Hire for the job, not the title. A "consultant" and a "specialist" often do the same work at very different prices.

How much does a GoHighLevel expert cost?

It depends on the job. Freelance budgets swing a long way from one job post to the next. GoHighLevel's own setup service is a flat $1,000, and that is the one fixed price you can check.

Freelance budgets

On Upwork and similar sites, every GoHighLevel job post shows its own budget, by the hour or as a fixed price. They vary a lot, and the posts close, so we do not quote them here. Look at the budget next to the job list instead. A webinar funnel, a checkout, a member area and a full set of follow-up messages is a lot of work. When a budget and a job list do not match, someone ends up cutting corners. Often it is the testing.

Other ways to pay for GoHighLevel help

OptionPriceWhat you getSource, checked 12 October 2026
GoHighLevel Advanced Account Setup$1,000 one-offA done-with-you setup. Its sales page lists five one-hour sessions with GoHighLevel's experts within a month of purchaseHighLevel Pricing Guide (modified 22 August 2026)
GoHighLevel Premium Support$500 a month or $5,000 a yearListed as support. The guide does not say anyone builds for youSame guide
Havstock Unlimited$4,995 a monthYour marketing done for you, including the GoHighLevel side. No setup fee, no contractOur homepage

Done-with-you means you sit in the sessions and build it alongside them. The page also lists recorded calls, written process notes and help moving your data across. That suits an owner who wants to learn. It does not suit one who wants it off their plate.

Do not forget the software itself

The expert's fee sits on top of GoHighLevel. Its pricing page (checked 12 October 2026) lists Starter at $97 a month, Unlimited at $297 and Agency Pro at $497, plus usage fees for texts, calls, email and AI. Our GoHighLevel pricing guide breaks down those extra fees. Not signed up yet? Our special link gets you a 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel (we may earn a commission from this link) plus a free live bootcamp. Sign up on GoHighLevel's own site and you get the standard 14 days, with no bootcamp.

A cheap build is not cheap if you pay someone else to fix it three months later.

Where can you find a GoHighLevel expert?

The two most direct places are GoHighLevel's Certified Admin directory and freelance sites like Upwork. After that, you can buy setup help from GoHighLevel itself, or hire an agency.

  • The Certified Admin directory. GoHighLevel runs a directory of people who passed its Certified Admin exam, at directory.gohighlevel.com. Its announcement (published 14 November 2025) says you can filter by industry, services offered and credentials, see certifications and client reviews, and contact people through their profiles.
  • Freelance marketplaces. Upwork and similar sites have plenty of GoHighLevel freelancers. Write a clear scope. Vague posts get vague quotes.
  • GoHighLevel itself. The $1,000 Advanced Account Setup above. Good if you want to learn alongside an expert.
  • An agency or a marketing subscription. Right when you want the work done every month, not a one-off build.
  • Facebook groups and Reddit. Full of people offering help. Treat a recommendation there as a name to check, not a reference.

Wherever you find them, ask to see something they built. A profile is a claim. A working account is proof.

Does GoHighLevel certification mean someone is an expert?

It means they passed GoHighLevel's own course and a live exam. That is a fair sign they know the software. It does not prove they can build what your business needs.

Here is what GoHighLevel's certification page says, checked 12 October 2026:

DetailWhat the page says
Price$97 a month, or $970 a year
CourseworkDesigned to take 7 to 10 days at a steady pace
ExamA live proctored exam
How long it lastsTwo years from the date they pass the exam
Staying activeAt least two more skills badges a year
If the subscription endsThe certification goes inactive and the name comes off the directory
Extra badgesSpecialty badges such as A2P Compliance, AI Employee, HIPAA Compliance and Paid Ads

So a badge tells you two things. They passed a real test, and they are paying to stay listed. Specialty badges help when your job needs that skill. A dental practice that must stay HIPAA-safe should care about the HIPAA badge, for example.

What a badge cannot tell you: whether they know your industry, whether they write messages your customers reply to, and whether they pick up the phone when a workflow breaks on a Friday. Plenty of good builders are not certified. Plenty of certified people have never built for a business like yours. Use the badge to make a shortlist, then judge the work.

A badge gets someone on your shortlist. Their past work gets them hired.

What are the red flags when hiring a GoHighLevel expert?

The biggest red flag is anyone who wants to own or control your account. After that, watch for skipped setup steps and promises about results.

They ask for your password

You never need to share your login. Add them as a user instead. In your sub-account, go to Settings, then Users, and click + Add User. You can make them an Admin, or a User with only the permissions they need, set module by module (Sub-account user roles and permissions, modified 6 October 2026). When the job ends, remove them.

They build it inside their own agency account

In GoHighLevel, every business lives in a sub-account, and every sub-account sits under an agency account. If the expert builds your system under their agency, you are renting your own setup from them. Ask, in writing, whose agency account your sub-account sits in, and how you get everything out if you part ways.

They skip text registration

US carriers want businesses that text from a normal number to register first. This is A2P 10DLC. An expert who builds text reminders and follow-ups without starting that registration is building something that may not send. It belongs in week one of any setup.

They promise leads or sales

GoHighLevel follows up with leads. It does not make them. Anyone who promises a number of leads or booked calls from a CRM setup is selling a guess. Leads come from ads, search, referrals and your offer.

They quote before they ask questions

A good expert asks how you get leads, how you book work, who answers the phone and what happens after a sale. A fixed price before any of that is a price for a template, not for your business.

They do not test or hand over

Ask how they test a workflow and what you get at the end. GoHighLevel's own $1,000 setup page lists recorded calls and written process notes. Expect the same from anyone you pay. No notes means you are stuck with them forever.

They say "certified" but you cannot find them

Check the name in the Certified Admin directory. If it is not there, ask why. The badge may have lapsed, which is fine, but they should say so.

Our post on common GoHighLevel mistakes shows what a rushed build tends to get wrong.

What should you ask a GoHighLevel expert before you hire them?

Ask questions that show how they work, not just what they know. These eight cover most of it:

  1. Can you show me an account or funnel you built for a business like mine?
  2. Will you work in my sub-account, added as a user, and never in yours?
  3. How do you handle A2P 10DLC text registration, and who fills in the forms?
  4. What exactly is in the price, and what costs extra?
  5. How do you test a workflow before you switch it on?
  6. What do I get at the end: written notes, videos, a walk-through?
  7. How fast do you answer when something breaks, and is that included?
  8. If we stop working together, what do I need to do to keep everything?

Pay attention to how they answer. Clear, specific answers are a good sign. Fuzzy ones about "custom strategy" are not.

If you only ask one question, ask the last one. Anyone worth hiring is happy to explain how you leave.

Should you hire an expert or learn GoHighLevel yourself?

Learn it yourself if you like this kind of work and can spare a few evenings. Hire help for the fiddly, high-stakes parts: text registration, moving data in from another tool, and workflows that touch payments.

Our GoHighLevel tutorial for beginners walks through the ten setup steps in order, so we will not repeat them here. Many owners do a mix. They set up the basics themselves, then pay an expert for an audit and a few hours of fixes. That is often cheaper than a full build.

If you want to try it before you hire anyone, our special link adds a free live bootcamp to a 30-day free trial, instead of the standard 14 days.

When is hiring a GoHighLevel expert the wrong move?

It is the wrong move when GoHighLevel is the wrong tool, or when the job is too small to need one.

If all you want is a booking link, a simple scheduling tool is cheaper and quicker than GoHighLevel plus an expert. If you mostly sell courses, or you only need email, another tool may fit better. Our list of GoHighLevel alternatives shows six options and who each one suits.

It is also worth saying where we are the wrong choice. If you need one calendar fixed or one workflow built, a good freelancer or GoHighLevel's $1,000 setup will cost you far less than Havstock Unlimited at $4,995 a month. We are built for owners who want all of their marketing handled every month, not a one-off fix.

GoHighLevel is the tool. Someone still has to do the work: write the texts, build the pages, run the ads, check the numbers, and fix things when they break. A one-off expert builds it and leaves. If you would rather have a team keep it running, that is what our CRM and automations work covers. You can also see how Havstock Unlimited works.

FAQ

How much does it cost to hire a GoHighLevel expert?

It depends on the job. Freelance budgets vary a lot from one job post to the next, so compare the budget with the work it asks for. GoHighLevel's own done-with-you setup is $1,000. Ongoing help is a monthly cost, and the GoHighLevel plan itself is extra, from $97 a month.

Where do I find a certified GoHighLevel expert?

Use GoHighLevel's Certified Admin directory at directory.gohighlevel.com. GoHighLevel says you can filter by industry, services offered and credentials, see reviews, and contact people from their profiles. Certified admins pay $97 a month or $970 a year, pass a live exam, and must earn two skills badges a year to stay active.

What is the difference between a GoHighLevel expert and a GoHighLevel consultant?

Usually just the title. Both words get used for the same setup and support work. Some consultants mainly advise, and some experts mainly build, but there is no official line between them. Judge them on what they have built, how they test it, and what you get at the end, not on the title.

Should I give a GoHighLevel expert my login?

No. Add them as a user in your sub-account under Settings, then Users. You can make them an Admin or a User with only the permissions they need, module by module. That way you stay the owner, and you can remove their access when the job is done.

Does GoHighLevel offer setup help itself?

Yes. GoHighLevel's pricing guide lists an Advanced Account Setup for $1,000, described as a done-with-you service. Its sales page lists five one-hour sessions with GoHighLevel's experts within a month of purchase. You take part in the sessions, so it suits owners who want to learn the system as it gets built.

Can a GoHighLevel expert get me more leads?

Not on their own. A good setup makes sure every lead gets a fast reply, a booking link and follow-up, so fewer slip away. The leads themselves come from ads, search, referrals and your offer. Be careful with anyone who promises a set number of leads from a CRM build.

Is GoHighLevel certification worth asking for?

It is worth checking, not worth relying on. A badge shows someone passed GoHighLevel's course and a live exam and keeps their listing paid up. It does not show they know your industry or answer fast. Use it to build a shortlist, then judge each person on past work and clear answers.

That is how to hire a GoHighLevel expert without regrets. Decide the job first, check the person's past work, keep the account in your name, and get notes at the end. If you would rather learn it yourself first, start your 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel here.
