GoHighLevel is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform for small businesses and the agencies that serve them. One login gives you a CRM, a website and funnel builder, a shared inbox for texts, email and social messages, booking calendars, automations, review requests, payments and AI tools. Plans start at $97 a month. This guide explains what it does, how it is set up, what costs extra and who it suits.
The short answer
GoHighLevel (the company now calls itself HighLevel) replaces the pile of tools a service business pays for separately: the CRM, the funnel builder, the email and text tool, the booking calendar and the review tool. Everything shares one contact record, so a lead who fills in a form can get a text, book a call and leave a review without you copying anything between apps.
GoHighLevel in one minute
GoHighLevel is made by HighLevel, a software company based in Dallas, Texas. Its co-founders are Shaun Clark, Varun Vairavan and Robin Alex (HighLevel, about us; we may earn a commission from this link). The company says it was built by marketers for marketers, and it grew up selling to marketing agencies first. Today it sells to business owners directly too.
It is big. In March 2026, HighLevel said it had more than 120,000 customers and over 1 million small businesses running on the platform, across 150+ countries (HighLevel, 2 March 2026). The gap between those two numbers is the agency model: one paying agency can run many client businesses inside its account.
You will see three names for the same thing. GoHighLevel is the website and what most people search for. HighLevel is what the company calls itself now. GHL is the short form everyone uses.
Is GoHighLevel a CRM?
Yes. At its core, GoHighLevel is a CRM: a database of every contact, with their details, tags, notes, messages and deals. Every plan gets unlimited contacts and unlimited users (GoHighLevel pricing).
But calling it a CRM undersells it. A normal CRM stores your leads. GoHighLevel also builds the page that captures them, sends the texts that follow them up, books them into your calendar and takes their payment. That is why people call it an all-in-one platform. The GoHighLevel CRM is the centre, and everything else plugs into it.
A CRM remembers your leads. GoHighLevel also chases them.
How GoHighLevel is set up
This confuses almost everyone on day one, so it is worth a minute.
Agency account and sub-accounts
When you sign up, you get an agency account. That is the top level. It holds your billing, the wallet that pays for texts and emails, and your settings.
Inside it, you create sub-accounts. GoHighLevel also calls them locations. Same thing, two names (HighLevel Support, modified 19 May 2026). Each sub-account is one business, with its own contacts, pipelines, calendars, phone numbers and automations.
If you run one business, you work inside one sub-account every day. You only visit the agency view for billing. Agencies run one sub-account per client.
The mobile app
There is a free mobile app called LeadConnector. It lets you reply to leads and check your calendar from your phone. It does not carry the HighLevel name, which is why agencies like it. You still build bigger things, like workflows, on a computer.
What GoHighLevel does
Here is the platform grouped by the job you need done. All of these are core features on every plan. Where something costs extra per use, we say so.
Capture leads: funnels, websites and forms
Build landing pages, full websites, sales funnels, forms, surveys and quizzes, with drag and drop or AI. A chat widget can sit on any page. This replaces a separate website builder and form tool. We show how to build one in our guide to building a landing page in GoHighLevel.
Talk to leads: one inbox
The Conversations inbox pulls texts, emails, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram messages into one thread per contact. Calls and web chats land on the same record. You reply from one place instead of five apps.
One correction to older guides: Google Business Profile chat is no longer a channel. Google switched it off in July 2024 (HighLevel Support). Plenty of reviews still list it.
Follow up: workflows and automations
Workflows are the part that saves the most time. A trigger (a form filled in, a call missed, a tag added) starts a set of steps (send a text, wait a day, send an email, move the deal, tell your team). Most steps are free to run. Some premium actions cost $0.01 each.
The simplest example is missed call text back, which texts anyone whose call you miss. We walk through it in how to set up missed call text back. For bigger builds, see 10 GoHighLevel workflows that replace a VA.
Book appointments: calendars
Booking calendars with automatic reminders by text and email. Round robin for teams, paid bookings, and a link you can put anywhere. This replaces a tool like Calendly. More in our GoHighLevel calendar guide.
Track deals: pipelines and reporting
Pipelines show every deal as a card moving through stages, from new lead to won. Dashboards and reports show where leads came from, including first and latest source with ad tracking tags, so you can see which ads bring in paying customers.
Get paid: payments and invoices
Send invoices, estimates and payment links, take card payments on funnels, and send text-to-pay requests. It connects to payment processors including Stripe, PayPal and Square. Their processing fees are separate.
Get reviews: reputation
Send review requests by text and email after a job, see your Google reviews in one place, and reply to them. AI can write the replies. This is one of the cheapest wins in the platform for local businesses. See getting more reviews on autopilot.
Sell courses and run a community
Host online courses and a members' community inside the same account, so the people who buy are already in your CRM. Our guide to GoHighLevel membership sites covers the setup.
Post to social media
The Social Planner schedules posts to Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business Profile and Bluesky from one calendar.
AI tools
This is where GoHighLevel has moved fastest. The main pieces:
- Conversation AI: a chat and text bot that answers questions and books appointments.
- Voice AI: an AI receptionist that answers the phone.
- Reviews AI: writes replies to your reviews.
- Content AI: writes copy and makes images.
- Funnel AI and Workflow AI: build pages and automations from a prompt. Free to use.
We run Conversation AI as the chat bot on our own homepage. Our honest take on it is in the GoHighLevel Conversation AI review.
What GoHighLevel replaces
GoHighLevel's own FAQ says it replaces a CRM, funnel builder, email marketing software, appointment scheduler, SMS tools and review management software. From what is in the platform, we would add a few more:
| Job | What you might use today | GoHighLevel feature |
|---|---|---|
| Store leads and deals | A CRM | Contacts and pipelines |
| Build pages | A website or funnel builder | Funnels and websites |
| Email and texts | An email tool plus a texting app | Email and SMS marketing |
| Booking | A scheduling app | Calendars |
| Reviews | A review tool | Reputation |
| Connect it all | Zapier-style glue | Workflows |
| Courses | A course platform | Courses and communities |
| Social posts | A scheduler | Social Planner |
The value is not only the saving. It is that every tool shares one contact record. When they are separate apps, someone has to keep them in sync, and that is where leads fall through.
What does GoHighLevel cost?
The plans are Starter at $97 a month, Unlimited at $297 and Agency Pro at $497. A single business only needs Starter, which gives you three sub-accounts. The bigger plans add things for agencies with many clients.
On top of the plan, you pay for what you use: a phone number ($1.15 a month for a US local number), each text ($0.00747 per segment plus a small carrier fee), each email ($0.675 per 1,000), a one-time $22.50 to register for texting US mobiles, and some AI use. The AI plans are $50 or $97 a month per sub-account if you do not want to pay per use (AI Product Pricing, modified 25 September 2026). Phone rates are from GoHighLevel's phone system pricing guide, modified 24 September 2026.
For most small businesses, the usage fees come to tens of dollars a month, not hundreds. The plan is the real cost.
Who GoHighLevel is for
It suits:
- Service businesses that live on leads, calls and bookings. Trades, clinics, coaches, consultants, local services.
- Agencies running many client accounts, where one plan covers them all.
- Owners who will put in real setup time, or pay someone to build it.
It does not suit:
- Someone who needs one thing. If you only want a newsletter or a booking page, a single cheap tool is better value.
- Someone who wants it working in an afternoon. It is powerful, which means there is a lot to learn. On Capterra, ease of use is one of its two lowest scores.
We build client systems in GoHighLevel, and we run our own funnels and homepage chat bot on it. The pattern we see is the same every time. The software is rarely the problem. The problem is that nobody has time to set it up properly, write the messages and keep it running.
GoHighLevel is the tool. Someone still has to do the work. If you would rather hand that part over, see how Havstock Unlimited works.
How to try GoHighLevel
Sign up on GoHighLevel's own site and you get the standard 14-day free trial, with no extras. Our special link gets you a 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel, plus a free live bootcamp to help you set it up. You need a card for both. The subscription is free during the trial, but texts and emails are charged as you use them, and your card is billed when the trial ends unless you cancel.
To get a real answer from a trial, do these four things in the first week:
- Start your text registration (A2P 10DLC) on day one. You cannot text US mobiles from a local number until it is approved.
- Connect one phone number and turn on missed call text back.
- Build one simple workflow: form filled in, text sent, reminder the next day.
- Send a test email to yourself before you import your list. New accounts start with a low daily email limit.
If those four work for your business, the rest of the platform will too.
Three things the web gets wrong about GoHighLevel
A lot of GoHighLevel guides are old or copied from each other. When we checked page one of Google on 27 September 2026, we kept seeing the same mistakes:
- "SaaS Pro". The $497 plan is called Agency Pro on the pricing page now. SaaS mode is part of it.
- Google Business chat. It has not existed since July 2024.
- "The free trial is 30 days". The standard trial is 14 days. You only get 30 days, plus a free live bootcamp, through a special link like ours.
FAQ
What is GoHighLevel used for?
GoHighLevel is used to find, follow up and close customers from one place. Businesses use it to build landing pages and websites, capture leads, text and email them automatically, book appointments, take payments and ask for reviews. Agencies use it to run all of that for their clients, each in a separate sub-account.
Is GoHighLevel a CRM software?
Yes. GoHighLevel is a CRM at its core, with unlimited contacts on every plan. It also includes a website and funnel builder, a shared inbox, calendars, automations, reviews, payments and AI tools, which is why it is usually called an all-in-one platform rather than just a CRM.
How much does GoHighLevel cost a month?
GoHighLevel costs $97 a month for Starter, $297 for Unlimited and $497 for Agency Pro. One business only needs Starter. Texts, calls, emails, phone numbers and some AI use are charged on top, based on how much you use. For most small businesses that is tens of dollars a month.
Is GoHighLevel easy to learn?
Not at first. It does a lot, so there is a real learning curve. On G2, the learning curve is the most common complaint, and on Capterra ease of use is one of its two lowest scores. Start with one job, like missed call text back or a booking calendar, before you build the rest.
What is the difference between HighLevel and GoHighLevel?
There is no difference. HighLevel is the company's name for itself. GoHighLevel is the website address and the name most people search for. GHL is the short form. They all mean the same platform.
What is LeadConnector?
LeadConnector is the free mobile app for GoHighLevel. It carries no HighLevel branding, which is why agencies give it to their clients. You use it to reply to leads and check your calendar on the go. Bigger builds, like workflows, still happen on a computer.
Is GoHighLevel better than HubSpot?
For small service businesses, GoHighLevel usually gives more for the money, because texts, funnels, booking and reviews are built in at one flat price. HubSpot is more polished and better for bigger sales teams. We compared them in GoHighLevel vs HubSpot.
So, what is GoHighLevel? A CRM that also builds your pages, chases your leads, books your calls and collects your reviews. If that is the system your business is missing, start a 30-day free trial and build one piece of it this week.
