GoHighLevel vs Salesforce: Which CRM Fits a Small Business?

GoHighLevel vs Salesforce comes down to how you sell: Salesforce is a deep sales CRM you pay for per person, while GoHighLevel is one flat-priced tool that texts, books and follows up with your leads. If you run a sales team with forecasts, quotes and many reps, Salesforce fits better. If you run a small service business that lives on calls, texts and bookings, GoHighLevel fits better, and it gets cheaper as your team grows.

We pay for GoHighLevel ourselves and build client systems in it, so we know that side from daily use. We do not sell Salesforce. Every Salesforce fact below comes from Salesforce's own pages, and every price was checked on the vendor's own site on 26 October 2026.

What is the main difference between GoHighLevel and Salesforce?

Salesforce is built to manage a sales team. GoHighLevel is built to catch a lead and chase it until it books or buys. Both have a CRM, a pipeline and email. The difference is what sits around the CRM.

Salesforce's Sales Cloud pricing page leads with lead, account, contact and deal management. Then come forecasting, quotes, lead scoring and AI. The bigger plans add Slack, Tableau reports, security tools and Agentforce, its AI agents. It is made for a company where several sellers work one pipeline and a manager has to forecast the quarter.

GoHighLevel's pricing page lists a CRM and pipelines, email and texting, inbound and outbound calling, one inbox for every conversation, booking calendars, a website and funnel builder, reviews, payments and workflows. Every plan gets all of them. It is made for a business where a lead comes in, someone has to reply fast, and the goal is a booked call.

If GoHighLevel is new to you, our post on what GoHighLevel is and who it is for explains it in plain words.

Salesforce helps a team manage deals. GoHighLevel helps a small business stop losing leads.

What do GoHighLevel and Salesforce cost?

GoHighLevel costs $97, $297 or $497 a month for the whole account. Salesforce Sales Cloud costs $25 to $550 per user per month, and every plan above Starter Suite is billed yearly.

Prices in US dollars from Salesforce's Sales Cloud pricing page, its Free Suite FAQ and GoHighLevel's pricing page, all checked 26 October 2026.

Neither price is the full bill. On Salesforce, Agentforce for Sales is an add-on from $125 per user a month, unless you are on Max. Texting is a separate product, which we cover below. On GoHighLevel, texts, calls, emails and AI are charged by use. GoHighLevel's phone pricing help page lists a US local number at $1.15 a month and texts at $0.00747 per segment, sent or received.

Email works differently too. Salesforce's Starter Suite page says the plan includes 2,000 emails a month, and an extra 1,000 sends cost $10 a month. GoHighLevel charges $0.675 per 1,000 emails sent, from the first one. We list every usage charge in our GoHighLevel pricing guide.

What does a small team pay on each?

Salesforce is cheaper for one to three people. From four people up, GoHighLevel's flat price wins, and the gap grows with every hire.

Team sizeGoHighLevel StarterSalesforce Starter SuiteSalesforce Pro SuiteSalesforce Core
1 person$97$25$100$195
3 people$97$75$300$585
4 people$97$100$400$780
5 people$97$125$500$975
10 people$97$250$1,000$1,950

Plan price per month, before add-ons and usage. Our maths from each vendor's pricing page, checked 26 October 2026. Pro Suite and Core are billed yearly, so 5 people on Pro Suite is a $6,000 bill for the year.

The table leaves out usage, and that cuts both ways. A GoHighLevel account that sends 500 one-segment texts a month adds about $3.74 in text fees (our maths), plus the $1.15 number and carrier fees. To text US mobiles from a local number, you also have to register for A2P 10DLC, which has its own small fees.

On the Salesforce side, Starter Suite does not text at all. So a fair comparison adds a texting tool to the Salesforce column. If your business never texts leads, ignore this. If it does, it changes the answer.

Per-user pricing looks cheap on day one. It is the fourth and fifth hire that change the maths.

Which is faster to set up?

A basic Salesforce CRM is faster to switch on. A GoHighLevel account that really follows up leads takes longer to build, because it does more.

Salesforce says Starter Suite comes with a guided checklist to set up your CRM "in minutes". For contacts and a simple pipeline, that is fair. The bigger plans are a different job. Salesforce's own Starter page says teams move up to Pro Suite for custom objects, a testing sandbox and complex automation. Its pricing page then points buyers to Salesforce's professional services team and certified partners. Once you start customizing Salesforce, it becomes a project.

GoHighLevel's login takes minutes too. The work is everything after it. When we build GoHighLevel for a client, the slow parts are the same every time:

  • Writing the texts and emails a new lead gets.
  • Setting the calendar rules and the reminders.
  • Connecting a phone number and registering it for texting.
  • Deciding what happens at each stage of the pipeline.

GoHighLevel's pricing page also mentions Snapshots, which are pre-built accounts for industries like real estate, dentists and gyms. They give you a head start, but you still have to make them sound like your business.

A CRM that only stores contacts is quick to set up in either tool. The follow-up is what takes the time.

Does Salesforce do texting, funnels and booking?

Not on its Sales Cloud plans. Salesforce sells texting as a separate product, puts booking in its bigger editions, and does not list a funnel builder for Sales Cloud. GoHighLevel has all three on every plan.

Texting

Neither the Sales Cloud pricing page nor the Starter Suite page lists texting or SMS. Salesforce sells messaging, including SMS and WhatsApp, in a product called Contact Center Digital. Its digital channels pricing page sits under Service Cloud, Salesforce's customer service product, at $75 per user a month, billed yearly. Text usage is charged on top, from separate rate cards.

On GoHighLevel, texting is built in. You pay per text: $0.00747 per segment in the US, sent or received, plus carrier fees.

Funnels and landing pages

The Starter Suite page talks about forms that capture leads, email nurture campaigns and a drag-and-drop storefront for selling products. It does not mention funnels or landing pages. GoHighLevel lists a website and funnel builder as a core feature on every plan.

Booking

Salesforce has an appointment tool called Salesforce Scheduler. Its help page lists it for the Enterprise and Unlimited editions, not the small-business suites, and those edition names are not on today's pricing page. Ask Salesforce which plan includes it before you count on it. GoHighLevel lists booking calendars on every plan, and its workflows can send the reminder texts and emails for you.

This is the gap that matters for a small service business. Say a lead fills in a form at 9pm. GoHighLevel can text them back, offer a time and remind them before the call, all in one account. To get that from Salesforce, you add products and someone to connect them.

If the sale starts with a text and ends with a booked call, you want texting and a calendar in the box.

When does Salesforce win?

Salesforce wins when you run a real sales team. If you have several reps, a sales manager, targets to forecast and deals that take weeks, it does more for you than GoHighLevel.

  • Forecasts and quotes. Pro Suite adds sales quoting and forecasting. Core and above add sales territories, opportunity splits and approval processes.
  • Custom builds. Pro Suite adds custom objects and a sandbox to test changes before your team sees them.
  • One or two people who only need a CRM. The Free Suite costs $0 for two users. Starter Suite is $25 per user.
  • Big-company needs. Advanced adds Backup and Recover, Archive, Data Detect and Security Center.
  • A trial with no card. Salesforce's pricing page offers 30 days free with no credit card.

If that is your business, GoHighLevel is the wrong choice. Its pipeline is built for small teams that need to follow up fast, not for forecasting a big sales floor. If you are weighing up other big CRMs too, our GoHighLevel vs HubSpot comparison covers the other common pick.

When does GoHighLevel win?

GoHighLevel wins when leads come in and someone has to follow them up fast. That looks like this:

  • You sell a service, and most sales start with a call, a text or a booked visit.
  • You want texting, calling, a calendar and a pipeline in one login.
  • Four or more people need access, and you do not want to pay per seat.
  • You want your website, forms and funnels in the same tool as your CRM.
  • You want to pay month to month, with no yearly contract.

If that is you, try it before you decide. Our special link gets you a 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel (we may earn a commission from this link) plus a free live bootcamp. Sign up on GoHighLevel's own site and you get the standard 14 days, with no bootcamp.

Pick the tool that matches how your customers buy. A sales team that forecasts deals fits Salesforce. A business that lives on follow-up fits GoHighLevel.

How do the free trials compare?

Salesforce has the easier trial. Its pricing page offers a 30-day free trial of every Sales Cloud edition, with no credit card and nothing to install. The Starter Suite trial covers up to 10 users.

GoHighLevel's pricing page offers 14 days. Billing starts on its own when the trial ends unless you cancel, and usage fees like texts and emails can be charged during the trial. The sign-up form takes a card and charges it when the trial is over.

With our link you get twice as long. Start a 30-day GoHighLevel trial with our special link and you get the free live bootcamp as well. Put a reminder in your calendar a few days before day 30, so you decide on purpose.

FAQ

Is GoHighLevel cheaper than Salesforce?

It depends on your team size. For one to three people, Salesforce Starter Suite at $25 per user is cheaper than GoHighLevel's $97. From four people up, GoHighLevel's flat price wins. GoHighLevel also charges for texts, calls and emails by use, so add those to your sums before you decide.

Is Salesforce good for a small business?

Yes, if what you need is a clean CRM for a few people. Starter Suite is $25 per user a month, and the Free Suite covers two users at no cost. It is a weaker fit if you need texting, booking and funnels, because those are not part of the Sales Cloud plans.

Can GoHighLevel replace Salesforce?

For a small business, often yes. GoHighLevel covers the CRM, pipeline, email, texting, calendars and funnels in one account. For a large sales team that needs forecasting, sales territories and deep custom objects, no. Salesforce is built for that work, and GoHighLevel is not trying to be.

Does Salesforce have a free plan?

Yes. Salesforce's Free Suite costs $0, includes two user licenses and needs no contract or credit card, according to its FAQ. More users means a paid plan, such as Starter Suite at $25 per user a month. Salesforce also offers a 30-day free trial of its paid Sales Cloud plans.

Can Salesforce send text messages?

Not on the Sales Cloud plans themselves. Salesforce sells SMS, WhatsApp and other messaging in Contact Center Digital, listed at $75 per user a month, billed yearly, with text usage charged on top. GoHighLevel has texting on every plan and charges $0.00747 per text segment in the US.

Which is easier to learn, GoHighLevel or Salesforce?

Salesforce Starter Suite is easier on day one, because it does less and comes with a guided checklist. GoHighLevel has more menus, because it holds your CRM, phone, calendar, website and automations in one place. That is also why it can replace more tools. Having someone build it for you skips most of the learning.

Is there something cheaper than both?

Yes, if you only need part of what they do. Our list of GoHighLevel alternatives compares other tools with their prices. If you only need contacts and a pipeline for one or two people, Salesforce's Free Suite costs nothing. Pick by the one job you need done most.

Do you need a new CRM, or someone to run it?

Picking the CRM is the easy part. Neither tool writes your follow-up texts, sets up your pipeline or answers your leads. GoHighLevel is the tool. Someone still has to do the work. If you would rather hand that part over, see how Havstock Unlimited works. Our page on CRM and automation setup shows what we build.

If you would rather do it yourself, start small. You can try GoHighLevel free for 30 days and build one follow-up flow first. For GoHighLevel vs Salesforce, the rule is simple: pick Salesforce when you run a sales team, and pick GoHighLevel when your business lives on follow-up.
