To get GoHighLevel A2P registration approved, register your brand with the exact legal name and tax ID from your IRS letter, pick the one use case that matches the texts you send, and make your website, opt-in form, privacy policy and sample texts all tell the same story. Most rejections come from a mismatch between those parts, not from a bad business. We checked every step, fee and error code below on GoHighLevel's own help pages on 18 October 2026. If you searched for GHL A2P or Go High Level A2P registration, it is the same thing.
- What it is: a sign-up with US carriers that you need before you can text US mobiles from a local GoHighLevel number.
- Where it is: Settings, then Phone System, then Trust Center.
- What it costs: $22.50 one time for most small businesses, then $1.50 to $10 a month per campaign.
- How long it takes: a few business days. The one-time fee includes fast track, which aims for approval within 3 business days.
- Why it fails: a name or tax ID that does not match IRS records, the wrong use case, a pre-ticked consent box, or a website that does not show who you are.
What is A2P registration in GoHighLevel?
A2P registration is how you tell US carriers who you are and what you will text, so they let your texts through. A2P means "application to person", texts sent by software. 10DLC means a normal 10-digit local number. GoHighLevel's phone system, LC Phone, sends your details to The Campaign Registry, the group that checks business texting on local numbers for US carriers.
There are two parts. GoHighLevel's brand and campaign registration article (modified 4 September 2026, checked 18 October 2026) calls them "who is sending" and "what and why":
- Brand: your business. Legal name, tax ID, address, website and a contact person.
- Campaign: what you will text. The use case, a description, sample messages, how people opt in, and links to your privacy policy and terms.
You need both. GoHighLevel's brand guide says it straight: "Brand approval does not automatically approve messaging." With the brand and the campaign approved, you link each phone number to the campaign. Then the number shows a green A2P Verified label, and your texts can go out.
Do you need A2P registration to send texts from GoHighLevel?
Yes, if you text US mobiles from a local number on LC Phone. GoHighLevel's fee article says: "All businesses using LC Phone must register their brand and campaigns through The Campaign Registry (TCR)."
This is not a GoHighLevel rule. It comes from US carriers, so any tool that texts from a US local number asks for the same thing.
If you skip it, the number has no approved route. GoHighLevel's help page on error 30034 says the error "can occur when the sending number is not linked to a valid, approved A2P campaign." So your reminders and follow-ups simply do not arrive.
Not on GoHighLevel yet? Our special link gets you a 30-day free trial of GoHighLevel (we may earn a commission from this link) plus a free live bootcamp. Sign up on GoHighLevel's own site and you get the standard 14 days, with no bootcamp. Start A2P on day one, because nothing texts until it clears.
Should you register as a sole proprietor or a standard brand?
Register as a standard brand if your business has an EIN or any other tax ID. Sole proprietor is only for people and one-person businesses with no tax ID. GoHighLevel's brand registration guide (modified 29 September 2026, checked 18 October 2026) puts it plainly: "Sole Proprietor Brands are only for businesses or individuals without a Tax ID."
| Sole proprietor | Low volume standard | High volume standard | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who it is for | A person or one-employee business with no tax ID | A business with an EIN or other tax ID | A business with a tax ID that sends a lot of texts |
| Phone numbers | 1 per campaign | More than one | More than one |
| One-time fee | $22.50 | $22.50 | $64.00 |
| Monthly campaign fee | $2.00 | $1.50 to $10.00, by use case | $10.00 for standard use cases |
| Proof of who you are | A US or Canadian mobile that gets a one-time code. No VoIP or LeadConnector numbers | Legal name and EIN from your CP-575 or 147C letter | Same as low volume |
Our take: if you have an EIN, go standard. Low volume standard has the same one-time fee as sole proprietor, so there is nothing to save by picking the wrong one. Sole proprietor also locks you to one number per campaign, and GoHighLevel says it has "lower messaging limits and stricter sending restrictions."
Have an EIN? Register as a standard brand. Sole proprietor saves you nothing.
How much does A2P registration cost in GoHighLevel?
Most small businesses pay $22.50 once, then $1.50 to $10 a month per campaign. These fees come from GoHighLevel's A2P 10DLC fees article (modified 24 September 2026, checked 18 October 2026):
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| One time: sole proprietor | $22.50 |
| One time: low volume standard | $22.50 |
| One time: high volume standard | $64.00, includes secondary vetting if the first try is rejected |
| Each extra campaign under the same brand | $15.00 |
| Monthly: sole proprietor starter campaign | $2.00 |
| Monthly: standard use cases | $10.00 |
| Monthly: low volume mixed | $1.50 |
| Monthly: charity (501(c)(3)) | $3.00 |
| Monthly: emergency services | $5.00 |
| Resubmitting a rejected campaign | No extra vetting fee |
The one-time fee bundles the brand check, the first campaign check and a $3 fast track fee. The fee article says "HighLevel does not add markup to these charges." Its phone billing guide (modified 12 October 2026) adds one catch: "A fixed 5% markup is applied to these charges at the location (sub-account) level, only when re-billing is enabled." So if an agency rebills you, a $10 campaign shows as $10.50. The same guide says the $3 fast track fee is non-refundable.
A US local number adds $1.15 a month, and each text costs a little more. Our GoHighLevel pricing guide adds it all up.
How do you register for A2P in GoHighLevel, step by step?
Get your papers and website right first, then fill in the Trust Center forms. These steps follow GoHighLevel's guides, checked 18 October 2026.
- Find your IRS letter. For a US standard brand, use the legal business name and EIN exactly as they appear on your CP-575 or 147C letter. DUNS numbers are not accepted. GoHighLevel warns that "EINs issued within the last 15 days may be rejected", so wait if yours is brand new.
- Fix your website. It must be live, public and clearly yours, with contact details, more than one page, a mention of texting, and links to your privacy policy and terms.
- Build a compliant opt-in form. Two separate, unticked boxes: one for marketing texts, one for non-marketing texts. The form must still submit if nobody ticks them.
- Open the Trust Center. Go to Settings, then Phone System, then Trust Center, and start A2P registration under A2P Messaging (SMS).
- Pick your brand path. Standard if you have a tax ID, sole proprietor if you do not. Upload your CP-575 and GoHighLevel fills in the legal name, EIN and address for you.
- Add the contact person. Name, a phone number you answer, an email you check, and a job title.
- Pick your volume. Standard brands choose low or high volume. Sole proprietors get the single-number path.
- Pick how people opt in. Choose Chat Widget Setup if your chat widget collects text consent. Choose Manual Setup for website forms, paper forms, lead forms, QR codes, kiosks or verbal consent.
- Fill in the campaign. The use case, a description, sample messages, your website, the opt-in wording, and links to your privacy policy and terms.
- Review, then submit. Click Review Application. Fix anything the AI Compliance Review flags, then submit.
- Link your numbers. Once approved, go to Settings, then Phone System, then Phone Numbers, and use "Select A2P campaign to Link" on each number. Look for the green A2P Verified label.
How do you pick the right use case?
Pick the one that matches what you really send. GoHighLevel's use case guide (modified 2 September 2026) lists them, from Customer Care and Account Notifications to Marketing and Mixed. It warns: "Do not select Mixed simply because you are unsure which use case applies." Its own example of a bad fit is a pizza place picking an appointment reminder use case. If you send reminders and promotions, it says separate campaigns may fit better. Either way, your consent boxes must name every type of text you send.
What does a good sample message look like?
Real, short, with your business name and brackets for the parts that change. For example: "Hi [first name], it's [Your Business]. Your visit is booked. Reply STOP to opt out." Use your own domain for any link. Public link shorteners get rejected.
Why do GoHighLevel A2P registrations get rejected?
Most get rejected because one part does not match another: the name and the IRS letter, the samples and the use case, or the website and the brand. Here are the key codes from GoHighLevel's campaign rejection reasons article (modified 12 October 2026, checked 18 October 2026):
| Code and reason | What it means | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| 30903 Incorrect Sole Prop Brand Registration | You have an EIN but registered as a sole proprietor | Register the brand again as standard or low volume, then resubmit |
| 30886 Invalid Campaign Description | The description is vague | Say who you are, what you text and why |
| 30893 Invalid Sample Message Use Case | Your samples do not match the use case | Real samples with your business name and [brackets] |
| 30892 Public URL Shorteners | A bit.ly style link in a sample | Use the full link, or a short link on your own domain |
| 30919 Website lacks business information | The site is too thin | Say what you do, add contact details and more pages, mention texting, link your policies |
| 30896 Opt-in Error | Consent is unclear | List every way people opt in, with links, and confirm you do not share numbers |
| 30887 Opt-out Error | No clear way to stop texts | Describe opt-out and add keywords. The STOP reply confirms and names your brand |
| 30908 Compliant Privacy Policy Required | No live privacy policy on your own domain | Link a real page, not a pop-up |
| 30909 CTA Verification Issue | The reviewer cannot find your form | Make sure the form loads at the exact link you gave |
Carriers are not judging your business. They are checking that every page tells the same story.
Some rejections cannot be fixed by trying again. Content in the forbidden groups (sex, hate, alcohol, firearms, tobacco or vape, marijuana or CBD), spam or phishing, and "high risk" content cannot be resubmitted. If your business is in one of those groups, read GoHighLevel's forbidden message categories before you pay anything.
What should your opt-in form, privacy policy and terms say?
They should match each other, match your brand details, and give people a clear, optional choice. Below is what GoHighLevel's 2026 A2P approval guide (modified 30 July 2026, checked 18 October 2026) asks for. It is not legal advice. The rules come from the carriers and The Campaign Registry, so check them, or a lawyer, for your own case.
- Opt-in form: two separate consent boxes, never ticked by default. People must be able to submit without agreeing to texts. The message types in your campaign must show up in the box wording.
- Form footer: visible links to your privacy policy and terms on every form, before the submit button.
- Privacy policy: a clause saying you do not share phone numbers or text consent with third parties for marketing. It must never mention selling, buying or sharing leads with affiliates.
- Terms: who you are, how to stop (text STOP) and get help (reply HELP), how often you text, that carriers are not liable for late or lost messages, and a link to your privacy policy.
- Business name: the same name as your IRS letter, with contact details that match your brand registration. If you trade under another name (a DBA), add it to the campaign description and show it in your website header or footer.
How long does GoHighLevel A2P approval take?
Usually a few business days. The fee article says the $3 fast track fee in your bundle is there "to expedite approval within 3 business days." The brand guide says "Standard Brand registrations may take several business days," and that sole proprietor brands "are often reviewed more quickly." Extra checks or a manual review can take longer.
After approval, GoHighLevel says carriers can take "several business days to fully receive updated registration information." Send a few test texts before a big campaign.
While you wait, your campaign shows one of three statuses:
- Pending: still in review. Do not make a new campaign just because it is slow.
- Rejected: something needs fixing. Open "View required fixes" before you change anything.
- Approved: brand and campaign passed. Link your numbers and look for the A2P Verified label.
What do you do if your A2P campaign is rejected?
Read every reason, fix them all at once, and resubmit. GoHighLevel's brand and campaign guide gives this order:
- Open "View required fixes". Each reason has a code, a category and the fix it needs. Match it to the table above.
- Fix everything, not one field. GoHighLevel warns that a later review can turn up more problems, so clean up the website, form, policy and samples together.
- Resubmit. Eligible rejected campaigns can be resubmitted with no extra vetting fee.
- Start a new campaign if a field is locked. Some fields, like the use case, cannot be edited on resubmission. Extra campaigns under the same brand cost $15 each.
- Appeal if you think it is a mistake. Contact GoHighLevel support with the subject line "10DLC Campaign Appeal for [your business name or number]". Support cannot promise approval.
One limit: this is built for texting people who asked to hear from you. If your plan is to text bought lists, A2P is not the tool for that. Consent has to come from your own opt-in.
Can someone handle A2P registration for you?
Yes, and for most businesses it is worth getting right the first time. A2P is the first thing we start on every GoHighLevel build, because everything that texts waits for it. That includes missed call text back, booking reminders, and the texts in a database reactivation campaign.
Start A2P in week one. Every text you plan to send waits for it.
Once you are approved, our GoHighLevel SMS marketing guide covers what to send.
If you would rather do it yourself, start a 30-day free trial with our special link, fix your website and opt-in form first, then work through the Trust Center steps above. The free bootcamp on that page covers text marketing too.
GoHighLevel is the tool. Someone still has to do the work: write the policies, build the forms, register the brand, answer the rejections, then build the texts that make the money. We do that as part of our CRM and automations work. If you would rather hand all of it over, see how Havstock Unlimited works.
FAQ
How much does A2P registration cost in GoHighLevel?
Most small businesses pay $22.50 once for the brand, first campaign and fast track. High volume standard brands pay $64. Then each campaign has a monthly fee: $2 for sole proprietors, $10 for standard use cases, or $1.50 for low volume mixed. Agencies that rebill may add 5% on top.
Can I send texts in GoHighLevel without A2P registration?
Not to US mobiles from a local number. GoHighLevel says every business using LC Phone must register. A number that is not linked to an approved campaign can fail with error 30034, so your texts do not arrive. Toll-free numbers need a separate toll-free verification instead.
Can I register as a sole proprietor if I have an EIN?
No. GoHighLevel says sole proprietor brands are only for businesses or people without a tax ID. If you have an EIN and pick sole proprietor, you get rejection code 30903. Register as a low volume standard brand instead. It has the same $22.50 one-time fee and lets you use more than one number.
How long does A2P approval take?
Usually a few business days. Your one-time fee includes fast track, which aims for approval within 3 business days. Standard brands can take several business days, and sole proprietors are often quicker. After approval, carriers may need a few more business days to update, so test before a big send.
Do I have to pay again if my A2P campaign is rejected?
Not for a normal resubmission. GoHighLevel says eligible rejected campaigns can be resubmitted with no extra vetting fee. But if a locked field like the use case is wrong, you may need a new campaign, and extra campaigns under the same brand cost $15 each. Fix every reason before you resubmit.
Do I need a website for A2P registration?
Yes. GoHighLevel says the website must be live, public, clearly show your business and match your brand. A thin one-page site can be rejected with code 30919. Add what you do, contact details, more than one page, a mention of texting, and links to your privacy policy and terms.
GoHighLevel A2P registration is a matching game. Use the exact name and EIN from your IRS letter, pick the use case that fits what you send, and make the website, opt-in form, policies and samples say the same thing. Do that before you click submit, and you give yourself a much better chance of approval on the first try.
